HA-F Series Hot Air Dryers
The HA-F Series Hot Air Dryers feature a single blower that provides heated air to dry non-hygroscopic materials. Set point process temperature control to 300ºF (149ºC). 60-1500 CFM (102-2548 m3/hr) airflow available.
HA-F Series Hot Air Dryers include one 12-foot length of high temperature flexible dryer hose. HA-F Series dryers should be used in conjunction with an appropriately-sized drying hopper.
- A hot air dryer uses heated ambient air to remove surface moisture from material, while a desiccant dryer uses dry, low-dew-point air to remove moisture absorbed within hygroscopic resins. Hot air drying is therefore better suited to non-hygroscopic materials that do not absorb significant moisture internally.
- A hot air dryer is a good choice when processing non-hygroscopic materials that primarily require the removal of surface moisture before processing. It provides a straightforward drying solution without the additional moisture-removal capabilities required for hygroscopic resins.
- Maintaining the appropriate process temperature helps provide consistent drying conditions without unnecessarily exposing the material to excessive heat. Drying requirements should be matched to the specific resin being processed.
- Proper airflow allows heated air to move through the material in the drying hopper and carry moisture away. Matching airflow to the application helps promote consistent drying throughout the material bed.
- Material type, required drying temperature, material throughput, drying time, and hopper capacity should all be considered when sizing a drying system. The dryer and hopper should be appropriately matched to the processing requirements.
- Removing unwanted moisture before processing can help maintain more consistent processing conditions and reduce moisture-related quality problems. The appropriate drying method depends on the moisture behavior of the resin being processed.
